…celebration day for Mateus Martins – 50th ATTA ride

A smallish clutch of juniors registered for this event, some at least preparing for the AusCycling WA Junior ITT Championships on Good Friday; several of them collected medals last year and, although he didn't ride as an AusCycling rider at those championships, Jeremy Smith created a new Junior record at this Lakes Day 25 event last year—with a 46km/h average speed!.

All riders should have started and it looks like the SW breeze up the long back straight is slowing times a tad.
Matt May has the top spot with Matthew Connan still to finish and only a few seconds behind after 3 laps; Jordan Dawson is also still a challenger. Sophia Sammons looks to have the fastest time amongst the women with Kate Bonner or Marion Mundt to fill the next spot—Marion is yet to finish but is only a couple of seconds off Kate's time after three.
It looks like there are only a few DNS today, possibly seven, a considerable improvement over last week's number.
Kate has held on to her #2 spot, about 40sec ahead of Marion; Matt May has held on to fastest time, almost 8sec ahead of Matthew Connan. There are only four left to finish, all on their last lap; all done.
Lauren Humphreys and Kyle Ernst have established road-bike records for the course.

And, just keeping count—today was ride #453 for Phil Gyford. While updating the database last year in order to complete it for all the early rides, back to ATTA's beginning, I was told by Phil that he once thought he might retire from racing when his tally reached 400 (at that stage it was only 384); it was good to add one more to the tally for him today.
