Race report

…not much to report yet but riders are being counted down at the start line. BoM says it's calm, humid and a bit nippy in Ellenbrook: 12.7° All the 160k riders are said to be on their way to Muchea. The first of the riders should have reached Muchea but it doesn't look like we'll be getting a live feed from the turn. It'll be a while before, say, Stu Murray completes his 40k. All riders should now be on their way; about ten minutes until we see Stu if he's on form today.
Umm, Jenny Sammons has recorded a finish time, she's returned somewhat early—problems? Only a couple of minutes to the ETA of Stu: yep, 56:28. Alex Schwetz has turned for his second lap and is on track for a PB. The temperature has crept up a few degrees but there's still no breeze to mention. Jarred, the only 160 rider to have a 'previous' has put in a 52min lap 1

There have been a number of start-time corrections, DNS etc come through. Thanks Troy. JennyS was a late start.
It looks like Sean Ralph has claimed another Road-bike record for the course: the 40km version.
Further down the track, Jarred has finished in ANOTHER course record time: 3:24:57.

Almost done, just two girls to finish. The Muchea times will be interesting
All done—There wasn't the heap of PBs I thought there would be but three course records rearranged together with Lily's incredible 5.3km/h speed leap certainly made up for it! Her sizzling 'leap' took her into the 40km/h cohort.
The amazing thing is that Jarred's performances don't even look like levelling out; today he had settled by Lap 3 and apart from a brief lull in Lap 5, he was actually negatively-splitting all laps. He reckons it's his favourite event. Well, I guess I can sort of relate to that. The '160' is a very special event in the ITT world for some of us.
PS: I mustn't ignore Joseph Hewlett's ride—he established another course record today: for a new course, the outward leg of today's course, 19.9km. He rode back too, as a recovery ride and not a lot more slowly than on his designated ride. The return leg time is noted in the 'comments' field of his result record. A 40+km/h average speed for your first ride with ATTA is not a bad way to begin; particularly for a 14 year old. Hopefully, ATTA will see him often. A later review of timing indicated that the fastest person out of the blocks, however, was Lily‐ the first 200m (approx) to the finish line heading north took her 21sec; Jarred's time was 24sec but he was accelerating!

Another PS: I remarked earlier that Alex Schwetz was a rider with a PB clearly in sight but, once the times from the Muchea end were available, it was obvious that he had some problems on the final leg of the ride and his lap time ballooned by 22min. Nevertheless this would be the first ATTA 160 where there were NO DNFs; a remarkable achievement!
