This was previously the 40km OPEN championship – for many years

A couple of (possibly) pretty useless facts:
• the average age of the 30 start list riders for this event was 45: 5 years ago (102 riders) it was 50; 10 years ago (158 riders) it was 51 and 15 years ago (107 riders) it was 57
• half of the present field has a collective tally of 2267 rides (151 average), the other half, 327 (21).

Now, this is interesting. All the riders should have started and it looks ilke several may have finished but the Webscorer app has been set for 2 laps in anticipation of adding turn times? Nevertheless Adam Maccan was an early starter and has a 'lap time' of 54min16—very impressive if that's correct. It could be. Steven Oates has a time of 1:04 that is also plausible, but Sophia Sammon's time of 6min52 suggests she was on her way to the start line (late) when recorded? But she has what appears to be a finish time of 1:04:05 based on her putative start time. That should need some correction though unless she had a flying start.
But, in the meantime, others are apparently back: Jarred Anderson in a PB time of 51:33, now just ahead of Adam with Matt Burton on 55:54. Marion Mundt has a time of 1:04:26 and could be the #1 woman if Sophia's start time needs correction. Marion's previous best on the course was 1:04:04. There are still about a dozen start list riders yet to be accounted for.

Richard Woods was in that field 10 years ago and finished in 10th place when Matt Illingworth set a course record and Michael Storer. a junior course record; unfortunately Matt Burton was a pre-race scratching from the event.

Emily Mascaro has a time of 1:04:23 at this stage. That could put her 3sec ahead of Marion and #1 amongst the women depending on what happens with Sophia's time. Steven Knight looks like he has the best time on Standard, probably just ahead of Chris Glasby, both on 59min. It looks like there are only five riders unaccounted for at this stage. It's now over two hours since the last of these started so all should have finished. We'll wait for verified results.
