Race report

The weather that's forecast looks likely to be continuing with the pretty warm conditions and a more-or-less headwind on the return from Muchea.
With nine first-time riders for the 80, of the 33 listed starters, only ten have a benchmark PB; a few others amongst the 40km option do, however, have an '80' PB but they'll be focussed on the one lap out-and-back.
In the Road-bike category only Shaun Ralph has a 'previous' but it is a pretty impressive one—and the course record. It will have a possible five challengers nevertheless.

No, there's apparently no wind to speak of up at Ellenbrook this morning, a bit humid and ~21°. Riders should be on their way but nothing to see on webscorer at the moment; back later, perhaps.
35min into the event and riders could be on their way back from Muchea but,… I just had a message from Ellenbrook about a rider who DNF'd with a puncture. and webscorer is now 'live'. Alex Terrall, one of the juniors, has apparently swapped to a 40km and finished: a new record time for the distance; Darren Wright has followed him in 40sec later. A number of 80km riders have turned for Lap 2. It looks like there won't be any intermediate times relayed from the Muchea end.

Mitch McKenzie has led the 80km riders through the first Lap and Jen Davis leads the women a couple of minutes clear of Sabine Bird. Murray Williams has posted the first of the PBs for the morning. Sean Ralph seems to be travelling OK.
All riders are through the first lap of the 80 and Mitch still leads the way, now followed by Simon Hansen and Sean Ralph; Katherine Ross has taken over the women's lead from Jen Davis. Mark Cherriman has returned a PB in the one-lapper where there's still one tail-end starter yet to finish. David Foot and Constant Van Wyk also seem to have recorded PBs for the '40'. All the 40s are now done.
Brett Amos has finished his second lap in a PB time of better than 2min. And Mitch McKenzie has regained the top spot with Jen Davis back in the lead for the women.
Peter Tulloch, the only junior riding the '80' has posted his first result at the distance, a very creditable 2:21:34 and establishing a Junior record for the course. Sean Ralph has just finished but a minute outside his Road-bike record: 1:51:41; Sabine Bird posts a PB. Another couple of PBs: Alexandra Meek and Daniel Sly. Alexandra jumps ahead of Sabine in the rankings. I missed Darren Gogan and now Katherine Ross improves her best by a bit under a minute—it's proving to be a not-too-bad day for the PBs!
Katherine takes over top spot for the women from Jen Davis. One remains to finish, due in the next minute or so and we'll wait hopefully for the times from the turn at Muchea.

So, Mitch McKenzie and Katherine Ross become the 80km ITT Champions for 2026.
