Round 2 of the series with Bike Shed Dunsborough sponsoring; and the Acton Park course presented its usual challenges. A stiff wind made it a fast tailwind start with cross and headwinds for 2/3 of the course. Despite this there were strong performances across the field: Connor Lambert was again fastest with an average over 45k/h, followed by Neil Mendum and Tony Doherty Jnr in their first appearances in this year's series. It was great to see Jane Spurgeon representing the ladies at this round and new club member Matt Giovas coming out for his first race with the club; junior Mark Schaap performed well and Denny Teede turned the tables from round 1 for a 9 second margin on arch rival Tony Doherty Snr in their personal grudge match. Thanks to Wayne S, Soern G, Nick H, Phil M, and Deiter Spurgeon for helping with timing, organisation and road safety. Thanks to Lee & Graham from Bike Shed Dunsborough for the generous sponsorship - Tony Doherty and Neil Mendum the lucky winners. Thanks also to Acton Park Community Hall for the use of their facilities. We next meet at Wonnerup on Dec 12th with South West Cycles giving us their support for round 3. |
