It was a beautiful morning; the sun shone and it felt warm even if it wasn't! There was no wind so perhaps some riders felt cheated, needing a bit of assistance down the back straight in their quest of a PB.
Anyway the raft of 'no-shows' deserve to be pretty shame-faced if the weather was the reason for their non-attendance.
Of course a number of last month's first time riders made good with PBs today and last month's sole PB, Alex Righton was certainly going to ride faster today. Young Luke Bate rode an extra lap - 15km today so, while he couldn't actually claim a PB, his first 2 laps (10km) were 38sec better than his time in June.

As always, big thanks to our helpers today: the Family Equid (Carolyn and the twins) looking after the desk and results board with David chipping in later with packing up; George Brautigam who was down at the southern end of the course; Karl McIntyre and Mark Berry who manned the bridge with each managing a ride nevertheless - at either end of the field. Logan Calder managed affairs up near the riders' exit.
But things were pretty peaceful out there anyway. Susie was back on the starting line after signing the course. Lorraine had the day off because she had a bit of repair work done on a wrist yesterday - she'll be back!
It was suggested that Matt Dec should be hit for a big whack of Carbon Tax today given his profligate use of power but, no doubt, he'd argue that this was offset by the fact that he wasn't on course long enough to breathe out much CO? anyway.
