There was some serious speed out on the path around Champion Lakes tonight and it was one of those, possibly rare, occasions when it was possible to see TTing as a spectator sport. Anyway we certainly saw something tonight; thanks Cameron! His time was equivalent to about 19:40 for a 16km ride; sub-20s for that distance are very rare indeed; we've never seen one in WA previously although Matt Illingworth has ridden such a time elsewhere and was very close earlier this year - as we know. But a lot of other people looked like they were travelling pretty fast too; it seemed to be that sort of an evening. Or maybe the euphoria a 25kph tailwind can give along 2km of dead straight, smooth, flat track?

This was our first ride at this distance on the course but hopefully when we return in a few weeks time for a second attempt we'll see a mass of PBs ridden on the back of the inspiration gleaned from today's session.

Many thanks are due as usual to our band of helpers: Susie and Lorraine; John Pimm and NickyA at the start; Cam Berg and Owen Jones; Kevin Storer, Chris Roberts and Paul Christiansen (the latter two probably quite happy to be relatively passive after their exertions at Busselton only two days ago!); and thanks of course to the Champion Lakes management for making the course available and in particular Stan Bowden for ensuring it was swept clean after recent landscaping work that is in progress around one section of the course.

PS: …and the showers that had been promised for days held off for another 6 hours ;)
