The last report for 2008!
So, did Luke see the writing on the wall and so not bother to defend his newly-laid record? Whatever, it was another rewarding experience to see some stylish record-breaking. Well done Cameron! And there was another very impressive ride from Travis of course; faster, in fact than his elder brother for the first lap; both of them over 40kph on a course not particularly conducive to those speeds by almost any reckoning. One positive thing we can say about this course: even though it is tough for the riders, it does offer something for spectators.

The glitch that affected the synchronising of the start clock at least worked in favour of riders so it must be some compensation to discover you have done a PB when you thought you had missed? There were quite a few of those too - about a third of the field managed the feat. There is only one more opportunity this series to do it on this course so, hopefully all those who say they wil ride that event will see the challenge for a 'personal' as the big motivator to actually turn up and do it!
After all, if Neilly can make the effort to drive up from Kojonup just to ride a '16' and so be able to qualify for the BAR…

Many thanks to our helpers who arrived at the course almost before last night had ended: Lorraine today was assisted on the desk by Margaret Watroba; Nicky and John again took care of the start; Michael Guerin looked after the bottom end turn while Mark Burke and James Hales manned the top end; Aviva's mellow tones relayed rider numbers across the radio link and Andrew Mackie got in a bit of extra exercise travelling back and forth; here and there.
