Well done, Karl McIntyre – 100 rides with ATTA!

The crappy conditions didn't seem to discourage the three at the head of the table – all going away with PBs. But the biggest PB didn't come from one of the fast blokes – it was Megan Stalker who decided today was the time to raise her output and travel a couple of km/h faster; well done!

A couple of riders tried to compensate for the (non-)showing by a multitude of others and rode extra laps; perhaps they were simply making the most of the south-westerly blowing them up the hill; why not? As Alison Hass remarked as she passed the finsh line on one occasion, "at least we're warmer than you are!"

Rebecca Mackey and Amanda Nabi swapped places today and Emma wasn't far off their pace with her beautifully smooth pedalling and uniform lap times.

With five rides under their bibs now, the first bunch of BIP riders (eight), has qualified for the series. Seventeen more need only one further ride and thirteen, need the final two to qualify. The five-ride group from here will now be able to drop their least favourable performances to maximise their ranking.

It wasn't just riders who were tested today. Our helpers didn't get it too easy but coped pretty well as always: John Healy and Richard Williams manned the rego desk for the first time – thrown in at the deep end – while Troy had done the usual course set-up. This time he did manage to get five quick laps on his bike before packing up; even yesterday he had plenty of choice for start time. Down at the Subi end of Lovekin, Gregor McNab looked after the barriers while at the city end, Davie Graham did the same; Lorraine, on the start line as usual had riders fed to her by Ian Turner; Carolyn Equid was on the finish line keeping tally of riders and, when the wind and wet lifted the detector loop, both she and David managed to keep it in place and no times were lost as a result.
