Race Report

It was a very fine day down at Mundijong for the final ride of the season. Damn near perfect conditions and a fine field. There were lots of people well in the spirit of the 'Gents" tradition: sons bringing out their old man for a bit of an outing; the youngsters towing the older chap (or 'chap-ette') around the course (sometimes vice versa). For example there was José who properly peeled off the lead at the end of the ride to let young Fred take the line honours! I think that's what happened? And there were lots of smiling faces. People seemed to have fun. Nobody in monkey suits or funny hats though; we had them once - and firecrackers, but you can't buy them any more. BBB and Chris Beeck led from start to finish being off #1 and so took home the Fastest Time trophy. But he didn't have it all his own way; there were some pretty good lap times in the first 4 or 5 placings (and I must have lost Lorraine at least 3 minutes when I overshot the first corner; see, I'm not too proud to admit that sometimes we all have a turn at stuff-ups! And we won't mention the Results board and extra numbers that got left at home in the garage. OK, maybe it wasn't quite 3 minutes?)Many thanks to our helpers today: Starter Stephen; Timekeepers Jenni P and Rod; Jenni H looking after the registrations and those very necessary chaps on the corners: Roger and Brian. Barry Murphy joined ATTA, has had one ride with us and was prepared to travel from just south of Geraldton to help out today. Impressive? Well I, for a start was pretty grateful. Now: on to a new season, starting in Kings Park in two weeks. And then the Early Birds (and Birds in the Park). PS: memberships are due for renewal then if you haven't already done it.
