The finish line flag didn't fly much today, but the Australian Champion, Luke Durbridge did. A new course record, and one that he had held since 2012. Backing up from a PB on Tuesday in Kings Park, he was 4 minutes ahead of his nearest rival – Matt Burton. Rachel Wales was also fast – in fact the fastest female, followed by Steff Van Amerongen.

Stu Helm's 100th ride didn't go to plan, he had a mechanical 5km in; and Paul Prottey rode with one time trial extension for the return leg – however, he did manage a PB and also stayed on the set course this week. Almost a third of the field rode PBs, with Steve topping this table, knocking 7 and a half minutes off his previous best.

Damien Wyer perched himself on top of the final climb, photographing the pain faces on the way out and also the way back. Thank you, Damien for taking the time to photograph our riders at so many ATTA events. We appreciate it.

Ian MacLennan (and Lorraine) set up the course, and packed it away, whilst Nicholas Connan took charge of the hot-dog turn at Wundowie, and Heather Connan managed the desk. Anna Heitz and Wanda Jansen van Vuuren directed riders through the Chidlow roundabout. Lorraine did the early stint on the desk and then made sure everyone got off to a timely start. Peter, as usual, did all of the behind the scenes work to make today a success, and ensure timing and results were immediately available.

We are at Gidgegannup next Sunday, for the final time trial of the decade – see you there.

It was a great pleasure and an honour to be on the finish today and see Luke arrive back: he was totally wasted; total commitment; what a ride! Thank you, fella – but he wasn't the only rider who had given it heaps, it was a great morning – mouse)
