Race Report It was a little chilly to start with but not once we turned the pedals a few times. There was the usual early morning mist over the Lake. It's a nice place still. Today the Panther only had a virtual presence; a sort of 'cardboard cut-out'Panther. He's currently living in a ceiling space and couldn't be lured out in time for the event. Still Stuey was happy with a couple of piccies for a week until Panther is recaptured. After a couple of laps, and despite the time it took, I began to remember what riding a MTB involved and enjoyed the ride! So did the other people; maybe less so in Stan's case as he had to carry a sore, somewhat swollen wrist for the last three and a half laps after causing himself a bit of grief in the first. But he wasn't complaining. Clinton reckoned it took a lap or more to get his heart pumping but he kept smiling and unfortunately Nicole's rear derailleur rearranged itself in a way which made riding impossible. Mike Woolley seemd to be smiling quietly to himself so I figured he'd coped OK too. Pity there weren't more there to enjoy it all. We actually had more spectators than riders. Rhys Watters was there to see Clinton get some MTB practice and then took off for a run back 'home' to Parkerville. Phil G rode up but managed to arrive a bit too late for a start but in plenty of time for a coffee (and a ride home before getting wet?) Thanks Kirsten and Rod for the timing etc. |
