Race Report

The conditions looked very promising just before the start and, indeed, course records and PBs took a hammering. Stu wanted to go 'sub-hour' and made no mistake there with a 47km/h average; Wanda enjoyed a few minutes holding the women's course record before Steff sprinted home; in the meantime Kirsty Turner had also finished under the old record time. First man home was Colin McCaughey and he enjoyed five minutes in the 'hot seat' before Joe Grasso turfed him out. But that couldn't wipe the smile from Colin's face because he remained on top of the PBs list with a huge nine minutes. It was an impressive list of PBs on a course on which to celebrate the TT ethos.

Spare a thought or two for Aunt Emily though – the only person to suffer a puncture, he became the sacrificial lamb for the whole of the field and collected THREE. He finally capitulated when he reached the turn off Forrest and came home with Alex Cairnduff who was our man on that corner for this event. Alex, having checked out the course yesterday, had also set up the course today with Kim VanA there to assist and check our compliance with MRWA Code of Practice. Brett Amos sent riders onto Forrest Hwy, then followed as the possible sag-wagon; Paul Borrett was the bloke to show the way back onto SW Hwy and the final, short sprint home. Lorraine was the person on the desk today before starter duties took her away. Once again, thank you all; – jobs well done!
