Race Report

… another impressive sunrise but definite ripples on the lake. I didn't hear how riders coped down the back straight with the 'assistance' of a 32km/h+ Northerly but they weren't passing through the finish with the speed they managed earlier in the month. Nevertheless, the conditions didn't stop Lachlan Gilham from posting a nice 3min improvement on his second outing on the course. Brady Gilmore was back to make his presence felt: a 1min PB took him to the top ranking but only for a few minutes until Patrick romped home, just squeezing him down to the #2 slot. The Rose/ Glasby duo followed, settled into their accustomed slots: 1 and 2 on standards. Interestingly, the fastest ten slots were filled by representatives from each of the age categories
Josh Commons collected his usual Junior crown and Kirsty Turner, well established in the 40km/h+ company, was a couple of km/h quicker than Marion Mundt although Marion wasn't idling and posted another of the few PBs on offer.

Rick and Sally Churchill arrived a while before that impressive sunrise and set up the course; they were also the last to leave except for our good friend Amos. Steve initially guided Althea on the desk procedures. Heather Connan also helped out there and Nicholas C performed the key role of starter with the able assistance of Cheryl Dal Passo: Turi and Isak were vigilant down at the southern limits of the circuit; Karl McIntyre was our bridge marshal and Angie McRobbie kept the timing backups ticking precisely with her bib number calls.
