Race Report

Well it seems if you want to win the 20km option at Winter in Serpentine – you had to win the Collie-Donnybrook race the day before!  Well done to Michael Frieberg on a new course record for the 20km, after also setting the fastest time at the race from Collie to Donnybrook and back yesterday.  Kate Bonner was first of the 20km women, cracking the 40km/h mark, also creating a new course record, and following on from her first female across the line placing yesterday!

It was chilly in Serpentine this morning, but Patrick Saccani-Williams probably didn't feel it, as he rode himself to the top of the 40km score board and did so with a handy PB.  Travis Goad and Matheos Venetis were 2nd and 3rd respectively, and also performed personal best times.  Steff Van Amerongen headed up the female 40km, followed by Anna-Lee Martinovich.

Today's results can not only be found on the ATTA website, but also on the brand new ATTA app.  Search for it at the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.  Thanks to the speedy Chris Roberts for developing this – he is not just a whizz on the TT bike!

You would have noticed something different at the finish line today.  Peter and his timing hutch were not there, he was taking a well earnt rest from his usual long Sundays making ATTA happen.  It was scary to count just how many Sundays Peter has dedicated to ATTA so that we can enjoy the best time trial events in the country.  You will see him at some, but not all events in the future as even the legendary Mouse needs some Sundays at home!  David and Alison managed the timing today, whilst slipping in their 40km rides.  Peter was in the background coaching us from the couch and had done all the prep work! Tanya Birkbeck was Miss Efficient at the start line, Rachel Thompson had the desk sorted and Ron Sofield and Iain MacLennan managed the turn onto Karnup Road.  At dawn, Alex Cairnduff and Kim Van Amerongen were setting up the course and were amongst the last to leave by the time they had repacked the trailer ready to head to Jarrahdale on Saturday the 28th of August for the Panther Cup.  Have you got you MTB, Cross or Gravel bike ready for the 20km showdown?
