Race Report

Steve Knight was the first rider to post a total and he sat at the top of the list until mid-fielders, Steff and Finlay took up their final rankings. Finlay, making the most of his recent appearance at the Nationals, took over top ranking with a finely measured PB; Steve, nevertheless, only slid by one place. This was only Finlay's fourth four-lapper at Champion Lakes but his previous best ranking had been #9—clearly a huge improvement! But he has had quite a few #1 spots over the shorter distances there.

Andrew Flint was making only his second appearance on the course but made it a memorable one with a 4min PB; similarly, Erin Driscoll found almost 3min to trim from her previous outing. And Dom Minervini had extra motivation for his PB with Zvon starting just 2 places behind him. Zvon was 1km/h faster but Dom held him off. But four of the six PBs were from the cohort of Juniors, relatively unfazed by what, apparently, were fairly windy conditions.
