Race Report

The 2026 winter season begins with this, the first of the 'Winter by the Lakes' 16th series. It's actually the 62nd edition of a 'Winter by the Lakes'. Another bit of trivia: we began riding at Champion Lakes (CLRC) in 2008—the events path had just been completed; its prime purpose was as an events path. ATTA's most recent event was its 125th at CLRC.

First through the finish line after one lap is Ava Rodgers. It's about 10° at Jandakot, smokey and foggy? No, it looks great (thanks for the pic, Justin); a bit of haze perhaps. Three laps down for the first few, Andrew Simpson leading the way, then Ava. Alexander Consen has finished his two lapper but no sign of the other two 10km riders (just heard: they are DNS). Andrew and Ava have completed their rides and soon Joe Grasso will be through too.
Andrew Pickett sits on top of the list at this stage, his first ride at CLRC, so establishing a benchmark.
Further on and getting to the end of the list, Lee Bolden has taken over top spot; no, Tim Bates and Jarred have supplanted Lee. There don't appear to be too many PBs being recorded today though. Sean Ralph leads the road-bike mob not for the first time! And he was about 30sec off his previous. Indiah Coupland is the fastest of the girls followed not too far behind by Ava and then Sabine.
It's all over, last man through was Theo Grant and he came through with a PB (the only one today).

I mentioned Joe Grasso earlier—once again he held on to the Standards prize, 10sec ahead of his great rival, Steve Knight and this time David Sofield slotted in to third place ahead of Colin Rose. Only 25sec separated Joe from #5, young Jarred Anderson: it's a fairly convincing levelling effect in action here. Yes?
