The PBs are based on speed to allow for some rides on the first version of the course when the start/ finish was at the city end of the sausage. The start/ finish moved to The Pines for the 2013 series.

Early-bird series—2026 #5.
There's a new year imminent and we're already past the solstice; two EBs left after this one. It's about 17° in the park, with an Easterly blowing as usual in order to moderate the trek up Lovekin…With 725 rides under his wheels with this mob, Greg Perry is having another attempt at the 5-laps; several have joined in for the first time: Daisy Popebrien, for example. Richard Williams and Neil McDougall have cranked out another five laps each. Those chaps have a few laps to their credit around the roads of the park; I've chased them down Lovekin a few times m'self but not recently…
Campbell McDowell is setting the pace at the moment, lapping under five minutes. But Jack Dohler is tracking faster now; Campbell has finished with another PB, displacing Loic Draoulec who has been sitting on top of the list for quite a while. Jack has jumped into #1 slot, also with a PB (2sec). Leighton has a lap down now and the fastest time; Mackenzie is collecting her swag of BIP points and Sophia has again conceded about 1sec on lap 1.
We're down to the last man, Ben O'Connor who should be about to start. …yep, fastest time for lap 1: 4min21. Can minute-man Matt Burton hold him out—he's lost about 12sec in the first lap; it'll be close?
Sophia is now ahead by a couple of seconds; Mackenzie has finished with a 26sec PB. Sophia has an 8sec lead into her final lap. Ben is collecting the sweat flying off Matt Burton and finishes 13sec (1min13 ride-time) ahead—a PB of 1min12. Matt actually finishes a sec or so ahead of Ben's previous—certainly a decent PB of his own! Ben's time, however, is a new course record, pinched from Luke Durbridge.Sophia finishes 10sec ahead of Mackenzie, a PB and another course record! Mackenzie's time is also under Sophia's old record and well under her own unchallenged record as a junior. So, course records are nicely book-ending the fastest ten of the results rankings
