Race Report

Apart from a few short showers near the start of the race, and thankfully only one participant (Heidi Thomas) had to navigate the modified layout as one of the main gates was still locked! Thankfully we eventually got it opened and it was then cool and humid conditions this morning where the CX G category set the fastest times for the day including Mark Chong setting a new course record – Well done Mark! Sabine Bird brought a number of first time racers who looked like they had a good time out covered in mud on two wheels and even getting some air off the bump near the main gate. Angie McRobbie exchanged her normal volunteering role and participated today and set a sub hour ride, and Karl McIntyre was flying in Adidas three stripe.

Our wonderful volunteers today were Iain and Lorraine MacLennan who were again out early towing the trailer, setting up the signs, and managing the desk, Kim Van Amerongen marked the course and packed it up again afterwards while John Healy set everybody off as starter. John Ferguson managed the top of the course and our experts managing the roundabout were Colin Rose, John Andrews and Paul van der Walt. Peter Meyer provided his flawless background support services and Steve Oates hid from the showers with the timing system.

Our next event will be back at Champion Lakes on the 4th of September continuing our winter series (in spring) starting at 0730.
