The BIP Series Points 2024-2025No information relating to the number of rides that are needed to qualify for the series has been received nor, ideed, any indication that the BIP series still exists. If not, maybe it'll be resurrected someday. Where do the points come from? As in previous series, the points have been based on the statistical distribution of the women's times in each event and adjusted to give values on a scale that avoids extreme differences. The allocation of riders to Speed Groups was to be determined at the end of the series using each rider's average speed across the series relative to the distribution of all BIP riders. So the cut-offs varied a little from year to year. They were 30.0km/h & 32.2km/h for the 2017 series; 30.25km/h, 32.07km/h for the 2018 series; 29.07km/h, 31.47km/h for the 2019 series and 29.66km/h, 32.74km/h for the 2020 series and so on. In the 2023-24 series there were 11 qualifiers. The cut-off speed for the speed groups (two groups) was set at 30.53km/h after EB5. In this 2024-25 Early-bird series only five riders completed five rides, none completed four rides but sixteen completed three or more. Sadly, the prize presentation event last year was cancelled due to lack of interest and prizes themselves, including keepsake trophies, part of the series for twenty one years, have been abandoned. But the sixteen-rider cohort (above) is sufficient to enable bragging rights and considerable kudos for Michelle McLintock. |
